“I’m allergic to cats, so I was like, ‘What the hell is a cat doing in the locker room?’ But Pudge is cute. My wife loves Pudge” - Eddie George, former Titan great and current Bowling Green HC, on Pudge, locker room Cat
🎙 Leading Off
Labor Day needs to be revisited. Lacks a signature food. Always on a Monday. One proposal: move it back a week (or move the NFL forward). College football did an amazing job capitalizing the weekend, but sometimes the Big Boys just do it better. Give us a Labor Day Weekend with Week 1 of the NFL. A true Scary-free Sunday. Give it to us.

“I’m full! Dessert? Ya we’ll look at the menu.”
Satisfied. Not stuffed, but satisfied. College Football hijacked the weekend with games running Thursday-Monday. Good on them. There was hardly anything else to celebrate.
It’s a different Week 1 for CFB. While it featured top ten matchups like we haven’t seen, none of week 1 is a must win situation for any team. Texas picked a great time to lose. They could probably lose two more times and still have a crack at the playoffs. The sport has changed. Each Saturday doesn’t have the do-or-die feel it once did. Still, in true football fashion, everyone lives week to week. Underperform and you’ll be hearing about it till the next time you step on the field.
You will not find this newsletter doing Winners and Losers each week. Today, we’re covering three characters, and you’ll receive a chatGPT prompt for each to stim your own Research. See below:
Kalen
Remember what I said about week to week? Kalen DeBoer needs to coach that way because his time in Tuscaloosa is running thin. The dirty laundry is already pouring out through the internet and it’s possible Coach Kalen doesn’t make it through the season. Isn’t that awesome? Isn’t it amazing that the convergence of Expectation and Intensity run so deep in this culture that one loss on the road immediately puts your head on the chopping block? Love this sport. Here’s what the Locals are bitchin about:
- Ugly tape. We all saw CB Brady Hubbard doggin it in pursuit FSU’s running back scoring a 30yd TD run.
- Missing curfew. Everyone’s favorite Twitter moan. You think we weren’t gunna notice a lapse in enforcement! Seems Saban Time didn’t carry over to the DeBoer era.
- Locker room Tik Tok dance video after losing. These are classic internet Fanbase Irritants. To see the trifecta come out one week into the season is top level craziness. But if you’re Kalen, it means your closer to getting the axe than the throne.
ChatGPT Prompt: Hi Chat. Breakdown 4 potential coaching candidates if Kalen Deboer gets fired. Please include one current NFL coach (coordinator or Head Coach), one former Alabama assistant, one hotshot offensive coordinator at an SEC, Big 10 or Big 12 school, and one up and coming head coach from a different college program.
Miami
Pulled it off. Notre Dame needs to know Jeremiyah Love is on their team, but like last year, it takes them a few weeks to remember what works. Miami had the house jumpin and Carson Beck still has a few fastballs left in him. How long can this last? Miami started last season 9-0, was staring at the playoffs, and then lost 3 of their last 4. That was with #1 overall pick QB Cam Ward. What about this roster prevents that from happening again? IDK. Does anyone? Miami features a massive offensive and defensive line. Markel Bell (left tackle) is six foot nine and three hundred fitty lbs! Mario Cristobal can recruit the trenches and is using all the Florida skill position talent to run around on the perimeter. I’m rooting for Miami. I love programs that make it Back.
ChatGPT Prompt: I need to understand Miami Hurricanes’ path to the College Football Playoff. Can you highlight the biggest games of their remaining schedule, and one trap game that could trip them up.
Bryce
We’re gunna lay off Arch Manning for the week. I would be very (extremely) comfortable with my Rams trading 6 first round picks to make him their next QB. If he plays horrible and the price goes down, even better for me. I’ve seen what I need to see (his name)!
Another mega-recruit kicked off his college career this weekend and this one hails from Ann Arbor. Bryce Underwood secured the Michigan starting QB role this fall and he’s undoubtedly the most prolific QB recruit they’ve ever had. Michigan isn’t the QB factory you’d think it was post-Tom Brady, but Underwood could change all of that. He’s also perhaps the most expensive freshman ever signed. Read up on his recruiting story. Then watch him chase a couple Heismans over the next couple of years.
ChatGPT: I need a 4-minute read packed with details on the Bryce Underwood recruiting saga. How’d he get to Michigan? Who paid? How good is he? I need all the backstory.
